Club Discount?

Postby nintenjo » Sun Apr 19, 2009 7:27 pm

I know this is mentioned on the site but is there any chance we can get a club discount on photo purchases??

Also is it possible to have an order form for more than 3 photos at a time...

:D just a suggestion.
No 5 at the moment.. Looking though :)

Joe, I am going to jump in before Matt does. When you work through the costings on Matt's photo's they are actually extremely good value. Firstly we have deduct 15% vat then 3.4% PayPal fee plus a contribution to the cost of the shop, then add in the Matt has to have £10,000,000 PLI to even be able to take photo's from the places he does, plus the cost of fuel and the labour of both taking them a processing them there really is nothing he can give away.

As a comparison typically photographers like Xtreme Sports Photography charge around £10 per picture with £25 to £30 for a larger print and Jochen, one of the ring photographers charges €25 per JEPG.

However, if you want to buy more than 3 just email us and we can do a special booking procedure.

If you sell a hi-res jpeg though, that effectively means no more print sales for that image, so you will not make any more money on it, that one sale has to count.

Sorry, forgot I hadn't replied to this!

As Nick said, once you take into account all the bits that have to be deducted, I really can't afford to make them any cheaper I'm afraid :(

There is the 3 for £12 offer though, which I thoroughly recommend everyone takes advantage of.... 8)

:)

as your a Canon man I suggest the 70-200 F4 is, far better and sharper than the 7-200 f2.8 and cheaper

I have the 70-200 f2.8 a great versatile lens both for fashion and motorsport.

It would be a good reach on a crop sensor camera!
try the Sigma , half the price!

I use prime lenses for everything else, 24mm, 50mm and 85mm

Will chat when we meet!!

The 70-200 f2.8 is indeed a cracking lens, I tried the f4 version too and it isn't as fast at focussing and the extra stop on the f2.8 is very useful for low light or DoF effects. It's heavy though!

I'm in the market for something a bit longer for next season, probably a 400mm prime to get more head on shots.

or just crop ?its a big investment unless its earning you money.
Ive cropped off a 50mm and still can print over A3 with no bothers.
It is FF though?

I don't mind cropping a bit, but 200mm on a 1.3x crop isn't that long (and I've only got an 8.2MP sensor), cropping is fine for web, printing is fine as I can run it through Genuine Fractals. I'm more concerned for submitting to magazines though. I guess I'll have to see how many sales I get from the next few events.

for sure,
good luck with the magazines, I know they have their ups and downs.
Its alwasy worth asking them what they want sometimes and then going out and taking those images.
