New computer is up and running (thanks Cerbs :thumb: ) so I thought I'd celebrate by posting some pics to catch up with what I've been doing...

When I got the replacement speed controller, it didn't have any connections so I thought I'd teach myself to solder... had a bit of coaching from Cerbs via text, but I think it turned out ok?

I could be mistaken for someone that knows what they're doing here...

and here's the first two connectors I soldered...

... well its under the shrink wrap somewhere!

This is the gear I need to replace... hard to see but its mostly stripped

Replacement bits should be here saturday... and I'll be a lot more careful installing them!

Digging around for what bodies I could fit to the M03 or 4 chassis for the boys, I came across this website... seems like a really good place for info on M chassis kits.

Few bits arrived over the last few days - replacement pinion, reinforced gear set, and a bit of carbon 8) Just need to find some time to fit it all, in between fixing up the M04 chassis as both my kids keep asking me when it'll be finished!

I may well need some help off you, aligning the gearbox and cogs properly...

Don't seem to have done anything with these for ages ... had a mess with the Mini which was cool, but the Beetle is still in need of the cogs putting back in and aligning properly.

Think I may well sell off 3 cars and most of the spares, and just get the Beetle / MX5 up and running properly.

We need to go out somewhere and play with our r/c cars!

Last time I took mine out it kept crashing in to people and I felt so guilty I've not used it since :(

Was clearing out the garage and came across 4 R/C cars ... about time I did something with them! I've now sold 2 of them (the Abarth and the Mini), leaving me with the VW Beetle and the Alfa Romeo. I'm thinking I get them both working, and then I can give one to my kids to have a mess about with.

The VW Beetle has an adjustable chassis, and if I remember correctly I can change the wheelbase on it to allow an MX5 body shell to be fitted. The Alfa looks spot on as it is ... just needs a new motor and speed controller. I have a huge box of spares, so in theory everything I need is there ... I just need to decipher the instructions!

Hopefully I can get them working and maybe bring one / both to a meet
