MX-5 OC CURBOROUGH SPRINT - THE REVIVAL

Image

£30 - Saturday 9th April 2016

After a layoff of 6 years, this popular owner’s club event is back!

Curborough is situated off the A38 trunk road between Burton on Trent and Lichfield in Staffordshire. Curborough Sprint Course needs no introduction; it is one of the country’s most famous venues.

A sprint is not a race, it’s just one car on track at a time; a driver has the chance to drive the car to their own ability, with no fear of oncoming traffic or other cars on track to negotiate. Curborough is a tight technical sprint track well suited to the MX5, we will be using the short course, to ensure that all drivers get at least four runs throughout the day.

What do you need?
O) MX-5 OC Membership.
O) Your car needs to be road legal and fit for purpose.
O) Tyres must be road legal, no slicks allowed.
O) Track cars will be allowed but must be road legal.
O) A suitable helmet, The club can loan you a helmet for the day, if you do not have one, free of charge.

If you have not done a sprint before, you will be made welcome, with instruction and guidance given on the day. Noise checks will be carried out to 105db maximum so please make sure that your car is within limits. If you wish to share a car, that is no problem, you are paying for the car not the driver.

If you do not fancy driving, why not come along and spectate or have a passenger ride for a small fee of £5.00 paid on the day. Catering is available so bring some cash. All members or non-members are welcome to attend and spectate.

Terms and conditions, and how to book your tickets can be found at the club store HERE .

Please do not leave it too long as there are only have 30 slots available and they are sure to go fast for this popular event. Once you have booked, you will receive an e-mail two weeks from the event with all the relevant information required.

I've already booked my ticket. Who else is coming out to play?

Hope everyone enjoys Curborough... I've been a member of the circuit for about 8 years now and lucky enough to live only minutes away from it, so I'm there way more than I should be! If you're still thinking about it then stop and just get yourself booked on, you won't regret it :)

I'd probably have booked this, but found out about it long after I'd booked into the event on the previous day.

Having been twice before, it's a lot of fun.

Well that was a GREAT day! For the money it really couldn't be beat. I've never been to Curborough before but I will defiantly be back.

Managed a good number of runs and after some expert assistance from Ken managed to finally put it all together into a half decent lap.

Ok so not going to be challenging any track records and plenty of room for improvement. But I was pleased with the personal improvement over the day.

I'll put together some footage of the many 'moments' I managed on the day.

My favourite camera angle was definitely 'bumpercam'

I got seven runs in total before the rain started.

When the rain started most of us called it a day. Leaving a handful of brave souls who then got a crapload more runs because there were so few of them :)

We were more lucky on the Friday. It rained in the morning, but the track dried out by noon.

It's 'interesting' in the wet, right?

I was quite shocked at the lack of grip in the dry! It's quite challenging.

Even more so wet, yeah :)
